We're all in this together

Given that AgeUp focuses on longevity, health is extremely important to us. But health isn’t just about disease – even though we’re keeping our social distance, social connections are vital for mental, emotional, and even physical well-being. Many seniors and those with disabilities already struggle with feelings of loneliness, and those problems will be even more acute in the days and weeks to come.

Like many other companies, we closed our Boston headquarters to help slow the spread of coronavirus and are working remotely until further notice. As a side effect, many of us have reclaimed some extra commuting time in our days. We’re encouraging our employees to use some of that time to reach out to people in the community who may be feeling isolated, and would encourage others to do the same. Face-to-face interactions should be limited, but a simple video chat or quick phone call can go a long way.

If you have more time and resources, you could help arrange deliveries of groceries and supplies for seniors in your community who don’t have the money or ability to do so for themselves. You could ask a neighbor through the door if they need anything, or check online for local groups connecting volunteers with people in need of assistance, like this Facebook group in San Diego or this website in Berkeley. (If you have other ideas for ways to help, let us know and we’ll add them to the list.)

We’re here if you need us

We’ve answered some common questions regarding COVID-19 and AgeUp below. If you have other questions about AgeUp or need help, reach out through chat or phone and we’ll get back to you with answers as soon as possible. We know this is a challenging time for everyone, but we’ll get through it together.

Q: Will COVID-19 affect my AgeUp payouts?

A: The slices of income from the monthly premiums you’ve already paid were set in stone at the time of purchase and will never fluctuate. The amount of income you’ll receive from future premiums may vary depending on interest rates and other factors at the time of purchase. As of now, AgeUp pricing has not changed.

Q: Will the stock market fluctuations affect my AgeUp payouts?

A: MassMutual takes on the investment risk, and your payouts are guaranteed, no matter what happens in the market.

Q: Will COVID-19 impact MassMutual’s financial stability and claims-paying ability?

A: Insurance companies receive ratings from third parties about their financial stability and claims-paying ability, with MassMutual receiving high marks across all four major ratings agencies. Top-rated companies generally have the financial resources and re-insurance support to meet their financial obligations.
